It was made by the brand k-k-o karl kaltschmid, oberriexingen in the 1880. S and it still have the brand logo on the wood handle. At that time it was a household laundry box iron also called cast iron, . It have a hinged top and a clasp to fasten it. You can see two holes on each side witch help the smoke to escape and around edge of the top cover.Its handle was made in wood because it is a cheap and low thermal conductor to avoid burning your hand while ironing as the container below was filled with hot coal to be heated. You can still use it for real or have it as a rustic decoration touch in your lovely space. Or perhaps as a lovely christmas vintage gift. It is in vintage great condition with some trace of use and a bit rust inside as shown on pictures. (each square of the grid on the ground is 5 1/2 inch , 9cm).
