I love this old sad iron. Forged over 100 years ago, you can almost feel its sense of history as you grip the red wooden handle smoothed by age. Heated by burning embers/charcoal, the iron still retains all its original beauty and shapely curves.
However, like all old objects, there are signs of wear and tear such as the odd bit of rust and faded paint. Any blemishes can be seen on the photographs but i think that they add rather than detract from the overall backstory of this iron.
I've seen these advertised as doorstops or bookends but personally i think it should be admired for what it is; a beautiful historic object with a life of its own. This item is made of iron and wood.
